Aaron Emyr Bunn

Aaron Emyr Bunn

My pregnancy with Aaron went pretty well from what I hear from other women.  I was only sick at night and was able to remain pretty active working almost until I had him.  My water broke 3 days before my due date (yeah!) and I was in labor for only 6 hours, despite everyone thinking it would be 20+.

Aaron Bunn was born April 24, 2010 at 2:17 pm weighing 6 lbs 12 oz.  And he must have been excited to get here because he didn't sleep the whole first day, and not much for the first two months.  He was wide-eyed, focused, and taking in EVERYTHING.  I didn't know any different, but many commented on how awake and able to focus he was in the hospital.

Many ask how to pronounce and where the heck we got his middle name.  It's pronounced "e-mir" almost like you are saying "a mirror" without the "or." How we got it is an interesting story... I thought we had the name decided before going to the hospital, but Derrick told me he didn't like the middle during labor.  And after we had the baby, we were kindly reminded over and over to get the birth certificate filled out.  So to google we went starting from square one.  We both have ancestors from Denmark/Wales/England-ish areas so we were looking at names from there.  Derrick found Emyr meaning "Ruler of the people" (depending on where you look) and Derrick means "Ruler of the Gods" (again, depending on where you look) so we thought that would be a fun way of naming Aaron after Derrick without actually using the name Derrick.

Anywho, we struggled with reflux and MUCH puking in those first few months (actually kept us another night in the hospital because he would stop breathing as he'd spit up so bad), which is also why I think Aaron didn't sleep.  He started to take naps once we got him on medicine at 2 months old.

From just a very young age, Aaron has shown that he has a very independent and strong spirit.  Derrick and I know he was on the far side of God's plan for having agency, because he wants his own choice ALWAYS.  And that's definitely not something that anyone taught him as it started SO YOUNG.  Derrick and I were both taught the "give children two choices that you are ok with either one being chosen"... well this has NEVER worked for Aaron.  He still wants to choose the third choice he made up for himself.  It's definitely challenged us as parents to learn how to honestly let him choose on so many things and I hope we can continue to be the parents that can help this spirit succeed!  (And we have learned the trick of telling him the opposite of what we want, so he DOES what we want like walking "slow" ha ha)

And now I am just going to tell all about Aaron through pictures!
