Summer is over (kinda)

And what a Summer it has been!  It's been so fun (and exhausting since we stay so busy) to have Derrick home all the time!  I thought that we'd get sick of each other, but it actually has been so much fun!  And what a change from him being gone over 80 hours a week! (I am so glad we are done with the phase!)

Derrick started school, so he has gone back to work and us back into a routine.  We still have some "summer" plans, hence that (kinda) over part, but overall the daily plans are over. (And I am mostly relieved actually, we have keep extremely busy!)

And I was going to put these in separate blog entries, but now I am thinking it will just be easier to put it all here.  So here are the highlights of the last 1-2 months:

  • Trae is a pro sitter (did I already mention this?  I forget...) until Aaron pushes him over
  • Trae LOVES to eat (not that you couldn't tell...) and acts like I'm chopping off his arm when I stop feeding him fun foods (I gave him mac n cheese the other day and he LOVED it).
  • I have started making baby food for Trae instead of buying them, and so far it's turning out to be a lot easier than I thought.  Makes me feel like an idiot with Aaron but oh well.  Learn as you go.
  • Aaron speaks multiple sentences and loves Elmo and planes, until it's night and then he screams the planes are coming after him (we moved next to the take off ramp of Hill Air Force Base and so we hear them all. the. time.)
  • Aaron had an AMAZING success with the potty!  (I will do a post on this just because it deserves it!)
  • My kids can share clothes better than ever.  And I finally took pictures that really prove it.  Talk about weird.
  • We went camping at Dinosaur National Park (They have actual fossils in the ground that you can touch!) with Derrick's family, where the highlight was the lake.  We learned that Trae loves to eat the sand (go figure) and Aaron loves to throw it (not a surprise there either).  Aaron did enjoy practicing floating on his back and kicking his feet while on his stomach.  It's fun to practice that with him.  It also rained super bad one night we went camping, and both boys slept through it.  Training them to be deep sleepers paid off big time!  Yeah!
  • We also went camping in Colorado, but I forgot to take a single picture because we were just having too much fun!  Both of my kids woke my family up (we were all in the same trailer) and my older brother asked, "Is that what every night is like with kids??"  Sorry Tyson, but yeah pretty much.  And newborns are worse.  Good luck when it's your turn. ha ha
  • We did a family Olympics (I helped plan some of it) and my team got......... GOLD!!  Go team ELK!!  Talk about working your butt off for it though... the scavenger hunt we did was a killer, but lots of fun.
  • Both of my sisters visited!!  Candice was here from New York for about 2 weeks and McKenzie flew in from Tennessee for a few days.  We surprised McKenzie on her birthday by coming home from our reunion early (she couldn't make it but flew in on Sunday (her birthday), so we left early while she thought we'd stay through pioneer day).  Candice, my mother, and I spent probably 5 hours making her cake.  Through a lot of work and watching youtube videos, it didn't look too shabby.
Talk about one busy summer!
5 months!

Sadly, only some of the Elmo things he owns.  The chair was $5 at a yard sale!  Score!

Makin baby food

He likes it!

Aaron wanted to have some too

These outfits are the exact same...

Here they are together

Playing at Denny's in every booth but ours

Trae was also having fun

The little whip cream thief...

He would load both of his fingers and stuff his mouth ha ha

Getting a ride around the backyard

Aaron LOVES playing with this bike at Grandpas!

Swimming at surf n swim

Enjoying reading time and the library with grandma and auntie Candice!

I have about 6 of these... I guess Trae was playing with the camera and I didn't notice!

Learned all about stars and then got star stickers... Aaron picked out all the blue ones and put them all over his arms.

Getting ready to take his first big boy bath!

And that idea was botched quickly... I went to turn on the water, but it was still being sent to the shower head, which then dumped all over me and Trae.  Trae went into shock (not literally) and fell over, thus bonking his head decently on the side of the tub.  He cried and wouldn't be consoled and so therefore I botched big boy tub time.  Maybe next time when I remember to check where the water is going to come out from.

Camping at Dinosaur National Park!

On the ride that takes us up to the fossils!

Aaron LOVED running up and down this ramp

Playing at the lake!

Throwing mud

I thought this was funny.. our two pack n plays set up in our big tent.

We had tons of little friends.

McKenzie's cake!  I didn't have my camera for the making of it, and I decided it was too much work to get all the pics from my sister through facebook.  So this is all I got ha ha

She loved it!

Happy 20th my little sister!!
